Hydraulic elevator systems lift weights using a hydraulic ram, a fluid-driven piston mounted inside a cylinder. The cylinder is connected to a fluid-pumping system (typically, hydraulic systems like use oil, but other incompressible fluids would also work). The hydraulic system has three parts:
A tank (the fluid reservoir)
A pump, powered by an electric motor
A valve between the cylinder and the reservoir
The pump forces fluid from the tank into a pipe leading to the cylinder. When the valve is opened, the pressurized fluid will take the path of least resistance and return to the fluid reservoir

Hydraulic elevator comprises of a elevator car travelling vertically in an elevator shaft.
-a hydraulic actuatorfor example a lifting cylinder for moving the elevator car
-the lifting cylinder being placed on one side of the elevator shaft
-The movable piston is connected to the elevator car
-a compensating rope passing round rope pulleys which serves to achieve a centric suspension of the car.
The compensator is placed on one side of the elevator shaft

description:
It proposes a solution for implementing centric suspension of a hydralic elevator employing the lateral lifting principle. a lever balance hinged on the bottom of the elevator car is the compensator between the lifting rope and the compensating rope. The lever balance must be constructed observing the dimensions of the car.

advantages:
-it can be of a small-sized design as the balance is placed below or beside the lifting cylinder
-The pulleys required by the compensating rope are mounted directly on the car frame thereby avoiding unnecessary weight increases of the car.
- car need not be monitored via the car cable as the balance is not mounted on the car.
