Online Library Management System
The purpose of the system is mainly to provide automation to the library. The categories of users provided are :
Admin: He can read or write the information about any member and can update, delete or create a membership plan.
Operator:He can open the account of membership to the new members.
The Scope of the application is wide and can be used with Any education institute and also can be used in offices with the necessary modifications done.
Technology Used:
Backend: Apache tomcat server, MS Access.
FrontEnd:Servlets, HTML, Java script
With this application, the manual application is converted into automated online application. For example purposes, customized data is being used for this purpose. The user will not have the previlege to enter the data about the books.
The three major components in the application are:
-Stock maintenance
-Transaction entry

The solutions provided by the system are:
-better and efficient service provided
-Faster retrieval of information
-reduced workload of the library staff
- All details of the book will be available on a click

The Library Management System is an application forassisting a librarian in managing a book library in auniversity. The system would provide basic set of features to add/update members, add/update books, and manage check in specifications for the systems based on the client’s statement of need.
Library management system is a typical management Information system (MIS), its Development include the establishment and maintenance of back-end database and front-end application development aspects. For the former require the establishment of data consistency and integrity of the strong data security and good libraries. As for the latter requires the application fully functional, easy to use and so on.
The project and implimentation titled Library Management System is Library
Management software for monitoring and controlling the transactions in a library .The project and implimentation “Library Management System” is developed in php, which mainly focuses on basic operations in a library like adding new books, and updating new information, searching books and members and return books.
This project and implimentation of “LIBRARY MANAGEMENT” of gives us the complete information about the library. We can enter the record of new books and retrieve the details of books available in the library. We can issue the books to the students and maintain their records and can also check how many books are issued and stock available in the library. In this project and implimentation we can maintain the late fine of students who returns the issued books after the due date.
Throughout the project and implimentation the focus has been on presenting information and comments in an easy and intelligible manner. The project and implimentation is very useful for those who want to know about Library Management System.

System and their relationships within and outside of the system. Here the key question is- what all problems exist in the present system? What must be done to solve the problem? Analysis begins when a user or manager begins a study of the
System Analysis is a detailed study of the various operations performed by a program using existing system.
During analysis, data collected on the various files, decision points and transactions handled by the present system. The success of the system depends largely on how clearly the problem is defined, thoroughly investigated and properly carried out through the choice of solution. A good analysis model should provide not only the mechanisms of problem understanding but also the frame work of the solution. Thus it should be studied thoroughly by collecting data about the system. Then the proposed system should be analyzed thoroughly in accordance with the needs
Proposed system is an automated Library Management System. Through our software user can add books, search books, renewal, update information, edit information, and return books in quick time. Our proposed system has the following advantages.
 User friendly interface
 Fast access to database
 Less error
 More Storage Capacity
 Search facility
 Look and Feel Environment
 Quick transaction
All the manual difficulties in managing the Library have been rectified by implementing computerization.

A data flow diagram, also known as “bubble chart” has the purpose of clarifying
system requirements and identifying major transformation that will become
programs in system design. It is a graphic representation of a system or portion of
system. A DFD consists of a series of bubbles joined by lines. It consists of data
flows, processes, sources, destinations and stores all described through the use of
easily understood symbols. An entire system can be described from the viewpoint
of the data it processes with only four symbols. The DFD is also powerful enough
to show parallel activities.
• Physical data flow diagram: -Physical data flow diagram is
implementation dependent. They show the actual devices, department,
people etc. involved in the current system.
• Logical data flow diagram: -It describes the system independently of how
it is actually implemented, that is , they show what takes place, rather than
how an activity is accomplished.
a) Source or Destination: -The source or destination is graphically represented
as a rectangle. Source or destination external entities with which the system
communicates. A source or destination is a person or a group of persons that are
outside the control of the system being modeled.
b) Data Flow: -The flow is represented graphically by an arrow into or out of a
process. The flow is used to describe the movement of chunks or packet of
information from one part of the system to another part. The flow represents data
in motion.
c) Process: -The process shows a part of the system that transforms input into
output. The process is represented graphically as a circle or bubble.
d) Data Store: -The data store is used to model a collection of data packet at rest.
The notation of a data store is two parallel lines. Data stores are typically
implemented as files or databases in computerized system. Data stores are
connected by flow to processes.

This report will provide a detailed account of the processes our group
used to design and implement a database that can be used to manage
a library system. Each subsection of the report corresponds to an
important feature of database design.

A library database needs to store information pertaining to its users
(or customers), its workers, the physical locations of its branches, and
the media stored in those locations. We have decided to limit the
media to two types: books and videos.
The library must keep track of the status of each media item: its
location, status, descriptive attributes, and cost for losses and late
returns. Books will be identified by their ISBN, and movies by their
title and year. In order to allow multiple copies of the same book or
video, each media item will have a unique ID number.
Customers will provide their name, address, phone number, and date
of birth when signing up for a library card. They will then be assigned
a unique user name and ID number, plus a temporary password that
will have to be changed. Checkout operations will require a library
card, as will requests to put media on hold. Each library card will have
its own fines, but active fines on any of a customer's cards will prevent
the customer from using the library's services.
The library will have branches in various physical locations. Branches
will be identified by name, and each branch will have an address and a
phone number associated with it. Additionally, a library branch will
store media and have employees.
Employees will work at a specific branch of the library. They receive a
paycheck, but they can also have library cards; therefore, the same
information that is collected about customers should be collected about

Functions for customers:

● Log in
● Search for media based on one or more of the following criteria:
○ type (book, video, or both)
○ title

○ author or director
○ year
● Access their own account information:
○ Card number(s)
○ Fines
○ Media currently checked out
○ Media on hold
● Put media on hold
● Pay fines for lost or late items
● Update personal information:
○ Phone numbers
○ Addresses
○ Passwords
Functions for librarians are the same as the functions for customers
plus the following:
● Add customers
● Add library cards and assign them to customers
● Check out media
● Manage and transfer media that is currently on hold
● Handle returns
● Modify customers' fines
● Add media to the database
● Remove media from the database
● Receive payments from customers and update the customers'
● View all customer information except passwords

It is clear that the physical objects from the previous section – the
customers, employees, cards, media, and library branches –
correspond to entities in the Entity-Relationship model, and the
operations to be done on those entities – holds, checkouts, and so on
– correspond to relationships. However, a good design will minimize
redundancy and attempt to store all the required information in as
small a space as possible. After some consideration, we have decided
on the following design:

The topic of this project and implimentation is Online Project Library Management System. An Online Project Library Management System is a virtual organization that comprehensively collects, manages and preserves for the long depth of time, project and implimentation code. This project and implimentation code can be downloaded by the user as required. It can be treated as a digital library- a type of an information retrieval system.

The Information Technology Industry thrives on development of software. These software may find use in over a wide range of applications. Each application has its own specialty-for instance, the software on banking solutions will differ distinctly from that of the Railway Reservation System. And so will its code. Hence, it helps, immensely, to have an online digital library that can store the code of all these different problems. Thereby, the work of a software developer gets reduced to a great extent if he has a set of code, ready at-hand, to enhance and implement. This enhanced version can also be stored in the system later. Thus, what we have is a rich collection of project and implimentations for multiple uses.

Our project and implimentation on the Online Project Library Management System deals with the development of a virtual storage space that can be used to address the above problem. Any user can view the project and implimentations. However, an authorized user can access the code of the different project and implimentations. The users must provide their personal details to register themselves in the system. These details will be saved alongside the user id and password provided by the user. Once registered, the user can access the system by logging in. He will then have access to a vast range of project and implimentation codes, which he can also download if needed. The entire system will be managed by the Administrator of the system. The Administrator, alone, can upload project and implimentations, and delete project and implimentations as and when required.

The Online Project Library Management System finds ample use in different areas. Some of them are:
• In educational institutes where students have to develop simple software as a part of their coursework. The availability of the code can help them cross some hurdles while developing their project and implimentation.
• In software development organizations where project and implimentations are developed on a mass scale. Most of these software are very complicated. Thus, to have ready at-hand code for some areas can ease out the problems of the development teams.

Software Requirement Specification:

1. Overview and Scope:

Our project and implimentation on Online Project Library Management System is to develop a software to store the codes for different project and implimentations. The code will be accessible for download to the registered users alone. However, it can be viewed even by users who aren’t registered in the system. The users must provide their personal details to register themselves in the system. To be authorized by the system, the user has to register by providing some personal information like his name, email id, date of birth, address and phone number. Against his registration, he must provide a user id, which has not been used before, and a password of a desirable length. This user id and password will, then, be used by the user to log into the system. However, his user id will persist. He will get a wide range of project and implimentations to choose from. The system will allow the user to search for a project and implimentation in two ways. He can, either, search for a project and implimentation using the title of the project and implimentation or by the name of the author of the project and implimentation. The system will retrieve the project and implimentations that match the user’s requirement and will display it to the latter. The user may, then, choose to download it. The project and implimentations are stored in the database of the system. Each project and implimentation is stored along with the project and implimentation id, which stands unique, project and implimentation name, author name and the project and implimentation image. The project and implimentation image will be a visual treat for the users. Other than this, there will be, for each project and implimentation, a list of the user id numbers of those users who have downloaded the project and implimentation. This data may be used by the system for referencing later, if needed. The system will be maintained by the Administrator(s). The Administrator will have a specific id and password with which he can access the system using this id and password, to add and delete project and implimentations as and when required. The details of the Administrator will be stored in a separate table in the database.

The project and implimentation will be helpful for people who are in any way involved in coding for project and implimentations for any purpose. The users can be classified into two categories. They are:
1. Normal users: Students and Software Developers can access the system to download code for development of software at their place of work. The ready at-hand code may ease out some obstacles that they face while developing the software.
2. Administrator: The Administrator can use the software to update and regularly maintain it. Different types of codes must be updated into the system at regular intervals to keep it abreast with the new developing techniques of the industry.


The software that we are developing has some salient features as follows:
• It will provide efficient and hassle-free services to the user. The efficiency of the system translates into the fact that the user can access the code and download it very fast. They will not be held up for any glitches in the system.
• The retrieval of information ( in this case specifically, the project and implimentations) will be very fast, for reasons explained above.
• The user data, i.e. the user id, password, and all the personal details of the user, will be present in a secured manner. The system guarantees complete security to the users.
• It provides a GUI interface for the user. ‘What-you-see-is-what-you-get’ is followed religiously during the development of the project and implimentation. Everything will be available on Click. The user will be spared from the pain of writing complex system calls to access the project and implimentations and download them.
• The system is a web-based system that can function in any environment.

Technologies to be used and its description:

The technologies used for the development of the Online Project Library Management System are as follows:

• The Platform is .NET environment. This software framework runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. It includes a large library and supports several, thereby allowing language interoperability. Programs written for the .NET Framework execute in a software environment known as the Common Language Runtime (CLR), an application virtual machine that provides important services such as security, memory management, and exception handling. The class library and the CLR together constitute the .NET Framework. The .NET Framework's Base Class Library provides user interface, data access, database connectivity, cryptography, web application development, numeric algorithms, and network communications. Programmers produce software by combining their own source code with the .NET Framework and other libraries. The .NET Framework is meant to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform. The .NET Framework includes design features and tools that help manage the installation of computer software to ensure that it does not interfere with previously installed software, and that it conforms to security requirements. Microsoft also produces a popular integrated development environment largely for .NET software called Visual Studio.
