Abstract

Programmable timer is a microcontroller based machine. It is controlled by a microcontroller PIC16F84 a RISC processor. The presented topic is a programmable timer and time is set by a user through a switch, switching/alarm will be occur after a set time gap. Time can be selected in second and in minutes also according to requirement. Earlier the timer was made through a 555 ICs.

The Microcontroller applications are compact and require very less amount of components. No. of instructions are very few and so easy to construct a program. Other than this we learnt a lot of techniques in assembling of the project and implimentation. The project and implimentation is application oriented one. The project and implimentation finds a number of uses in various fields if think over it. The programmable timer is versatile project and implimentation. It has lot of facilities like time setting for minutes and seconds, switching and a siren facility.
