Trigonometric ratios in a triangle or hight meter

TRIGONOMETRIC RATIOS IN A TRIANGLE Trigonometric functions can be defined in two different but equivalent ways : (a) Trigonometric Functions of Real Numbers & (b) Trigonometric Functions of Angles. Here we shall discuss trigonometric functions of angles. RIGHT TRIANGLE: Trigonometry can be introduced in the simplest way with the help of the right triangles. Once this is understood, it can be extended to other triangles too. A triangle in which one angle is a right angle (i.e. it measures 90 ° ) is called a Right Triangle. In the figure below, ABC is a right triangle, whose ∠ ABC = 90 ° , and α and β are the other angles. As the sum of the angles of a triangle is 180 ° , 90 ° + α + β = 180 ° α + β = 90 ° so α< 90 ° andβ< 90 ° # α and β are both acute angles A A α 90˚ β B C AB and BC are the sides perpendicular to each other, these are called the two perpendicular legs or simply two legs. AC, the side opposite to the right angle is called the hypotenuse.
